How Pot of Gold Works

This process guide explains how an addressless, appointment-based gold valuation works with Pot of Gold. It is intended to help you prepare before speaking with Neville.

How selling gold works - from unwanted jewellery to instant cash

From First Message to Instant Payment

The whole process usually takes less than a day: message Neville with a description of your items, agree a convenient collection time, watch the valuation happen in front of you, and get paid immediately if you accept. No shop visits, no posting valuables, no obligation.

1. Start with a Description

Contact Neville with a short description of the items. If you voluntarily share photos or details, they can help identify whether the items are jewellery, coins, bullion, watches or mixed gold.

2. Confirm Availability

Free collection is only arranged once your area, item type and timing are confirmed. Availability depends on practical service-area scheduling across Johannesburg and Gauteng.

3. Prepare Items and Documents

Group jewellery, coins, bullion and watches separately where possible. Keep certificates, boxes, purchase records or other supporting documents with the relevant item if you have them.

4. Arranged Collection and Sorting

At the arranged appointment, items can be sorted by type and visible karat markings. Unmarked pieces can still be discussed for assessment.

5. Valuation Factors

Valuation can consider purity, weight, item type, reference-market factors, condition, stones, certificates, packaging or coin/bullion details. No website estimate is a guaranteed offer.

6. Explained Offer and Decision

The offer is explained before you decide. You remain free to decline. ID, ownership and payment arrangements should be confirmed directly with Neville before the appointment is finalised.
